美联社27日援引内华达州昆虫学家杰夫·奈特的话报道，内华达州中部和北部出现的蝗虫数量“不正常，但并非没有先例”，过去30多年出现过数次类似情形，大约六七年前有过一次。

奈特说，这种蝗虫是沙漠地区常见昆虫之一，不传播疾病，不咬人，“可能也不会”啃咬植物叶子，居民和游客不必恐慌。现在蝗虫“部队”正向北移动，拉斯维加斯可能需要数周才能恢复正常。
